What this editor verifies

Selected areas become fully opaque black pixels in a newly encoded PNG. The exported image is reopened to verify each covered pixel and supported metadata removal. Mask placement is your responsibility: private information outside the masks remains visible. This tool does not redact PDFs or inspect text automatically.

Preview scaling can hide fine details. Open the downloaded image at full size before sharing.

The image and edits stay in browser memory. Clearing the image or leaving this page releases the editor’s copies.

How to redact a screenshot before sharing

Use this editor for names, messages, account numbers or other visible details in a screenshot. It accepts JPG, PNG and static WebP images up to 25 MB and 8 megapixels. It does not edit PDFs or detect private text automatically.

  1. Choose an image from your device. The file stays in your browser.
  2. Draw a mask over each private area, or enter pixel coordinates with the keyboard.
  3. Generate the redacted PNG. The editor reopens it and checks that every selected pixel is opaque black and supported source metadata is absent.
  4. Download and open the PNG at full size. Check the edges of every mask and any information outside it before sharing.

A fictional example

A screenshot shows an account number and a private message. Masking both areas replaces their pixels in the exported PNG; other text and images remain visible.

This example does not describe your screenshot. A mask is only as complete as the area you select. Small previews can hide details.
